Wouldn't do it. If it's possible, then do the research yourself and make it out of quality parts. He's never built one, and he's using a "desktop dyno"?!?!?! WTF!? Or buy a new crate engine, they make them in all sizes for everyones tastes.

I definitely wouldn't do that though, your just throwing away money.

He forgot the line "Why pay someone else to do a professional job when you can pay me for my untested ideas?"
Not a problem, just a challenge...

You could do that or you could pay something like $15 to amazon for:

"How to Build Max Performance Chevy Small Blocks on a Budget (S-A Design)
by David Vizard, David K. Wright"

      Amazon description:

"Vizard, a highly regarded engine builder and technical writer, turns his attention to the ins and outs of building serious horsepower small block Chevy engines on a budget (would you believe 600 horsepower for about $3,000?) Included are details of factory part numbers, easy-to-do-yourself cylinder head modifications, and inexpensive but effective aftermarket parts."

I have Lingenfelter's book, but it's six years old, the one above is 1999. There are other books along these lines.
