Well my driver's side window finally decided it had enough tonight. Its been acting up for about a month now and im really pissed at it now. It'll move about 1/2 an inch and stop where before it would go about halfway and then stop. Im planning on replacing them beofore too long but I think im going to try something first with my old ones before I buy new ones. Im going to try and take it apart and clean it/grease it and also solder the thermal circuit breaker together to keep it from tripping which is what is causing this whole problem. I was wondering if anyone had tried this before or am I going to be a pioneer of sorts at attempting this.

It sounds like the reason the thermal circuit breaker is giving you issues is only because the motor is going out. Personally, I'd leave it functional. The modification sounds like sticking a penny in a fusebox. When the window motor starts to bind up from wear and tear it draws more current which is what trips the circuit breaker. Bypass that and you are liable to blow a fuse when the motor starts wearing out next time. If you think having to wait for the thermal breaker to reset is a pain, imagine trying to roll that window up and having to replace a fuse everytime it stopped. Or even worse yet you'll take yourself back to the 1st generations of window motors that just flat out die on you in the rain with the windows down.
All the circuit breaker did was warn you that the motor was on its last legs and provide some temporary means for you to get the window back up again. It sounds to me like you are irritated that you can't set the window motor on fire. It seems like you are of the opinion that if you push the button the window should do what you want it to and now until you tell it otherwise. Of course I could be way off base but that's just the impression I get from reading your post about being pissed at a window motor that is working like it is supposed to when it starts to wear out. I could understand frustration if this were a new unit with a faulty breaker but this one just sounds old and starting to wear out- these things happen. Just be glad you are able to still put the window up at all.
If you do regrease the motor to where it works like it is supposed to the thermal circuit breaker should not be a problem.
If you want to, and it seems like you do- go for it. But I just wanted to post my thoughts on the matter just to give you something to think about before you do something you'll possibly regret later.

the only reason that breaker in the motor is there is a safety feature....... in case you kid tires to roll there head in the window the thing will over heat and stop......
over time the copper wire in there get old and can't hold the current anymore........ taking that out will let the window motor work like its suppose to. only the saftey future is gone.....www.turbov6camaro.com

well i just wished it would work like its supposed to but let me tell ya, im about ready to rip the entire power window wiring out and replace it with 10 guage wire instead the what looks like 14 guage wire from the factory. oh well looks like i wont be going through very many drive throughs anymore. im too lazy to fix it so itll prolly stay like this for at least a few more months or maybe untill next summer. thanx for all your help guys.1995 Arctic White Camaro. 3.4L/A4

\"Stupid men make mistakes, wise men learn from mistakes\"
