Defroster problem!!!

Hey guys Im having a small problem with my defroster. Ive noticed as of late when I turn the def. on it will only stay on for about 2 minutes then it wont let me turn it back on for a few more minutes. I know when you turn it on it usually stays on for about 10 minutes give or take at a time. Could this be due to a bad fuse or another problem?

It's just the lovely f-body defroster. It's the safety system of it. Once it warms up to a certain point, it will shut off and goes into lockdown for a few minutes before it will proceed to let you turn it back on.

Mine does the same... kinda sucks because by the time it will allow me to turn it back on, i'm already where I need to be.

Yea, the safety feature is pretty lame. I always hated it, because I would seriously need for it to defrost fully sometimes. I got so tired of it, I pretty much just forgot about the defroster all together and just let it defrost on its own.

My defrost for the windshield is all that works. All the air regardless if is set to vent comes out the defrost vent and by your feet. The rear defrost button does not light up when pressed, nor does anything seem to come off the rear glass. Suggestions?

Check the fuses and wiring. Something is probbaly not grounded or has a short in it or it plain out died or just has a short in it. If the light isn't coming on for it and in turn isn't removing anything from the back glass, then it's never even turning on. So, it probably isn't getting power to it or has a short in a wire.

I never new it had a safety feature on it. I guess that would explain it beig on for jsut a short period of time.
