So this is what Im thinking.. I have a blown head gasket...

I have water in my oil... Which isnt AS bad as oil in your water. I was wondering where my water/anti was going. well I figured it out when I came back from Va Beach. I have tan moca in my oil fill tube. BLAH. so seriously, I have changed head gaskets before on 4cyl motors.. how hard is it to do the 97 3800 Camaro???

Anything would be helpful maybe even a how to if its posted~

You sure it's a head gasket? I've got a bit of "tan moca" in my oil filler tube too but its not anywhere past that. Not on the rockers right below it or anywhere else.

I dont know if its blown, but thats what Im going to assume!

The Tan Moca is on the filler tube, and the antifreeze is going somewhere. The car tends to over heats while sitting at a stand for a while.... I know its going to suck to try and drop the motor only to find out thats not whats going on. but I would bet my .02 that there is a gasket break somewhere... no other way the water can get into the oil... I think I'll try and change the oil this week sometime and see if the water is in the oil pan. Its weird because the oil pressure isnt changing, it take a lil bit for it to heat up, but it only take a min once it starts to heat to jump up to mid temp on the gauge. Im going to read into it more and see what I can find out, anyone have a clue on what headgaskets cost roughly???

          Re: blown head gasket...

I think I just figured it all out while reading everyone's post. IMAGINE THAT!

So this is where Im at.

I have NO water in my OIL pan via oil dipstick... still oil on it. So I wonder where the antifreeze was going. well after reading the water enters the intake and evaps in the cyls... which is causing the white smoke in my exhasut! but it always doesnt cause white smoke to flow out after the car warms up completly!

So am I assuming this could be the problem??? Because I have no oil in my water, and I am guessing since there isnt water on my oil dipstick, then there isnt water in my oil....

So please let me know if Im wrong or not.!!!

Thanks guys, I'll still be reading... Think i'll have to tackle the intake gaskets this weekend!!! I still have to drive my car a few hours back and forth to work for a couple days!

white smoke would come out the exhaust when the car is completely warm if the head gasket is bad too

Ok.. basics.. is the radiator lid closed all the way? And have you put the right coolant to water mixture in there?

                    Re: blown head gasket...

My oil is still clear as ever since I changed it, no more fuel smell. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS!!!

I AM NOT TAKING THE HEADS OFF! lol

I started reading, and its talking about turning the new bolts 130 degrees, and some lash and lifters... lol

I am in the process of taking off the intake upper and lower. I just cant find my star bit to take off a sensor so I can finish taking off the fuel rail. Its a BIOTCH! let me tell you. I have bolts, parts, wires EVERYWHERE! lol its a total mess under my hood right now, everyone that has shown pics make it look so easy.. It isnt! I am going to finish it up tomorrow tho... my lower gaskets are actually plastic, and it feels like my upper is a rubber material, but I dont know, I didnt try to stretch it out. I did notice my throttle body was dirty as hell. alot of oil on the back it looks like. the gasket was fried and the water holes are gunked up with corrosion and dirt. So I think I need to flush the radiator aswell... People keep on talking about this brown snake deal.. dont know what they are talking about.. But my car doesnt over heat, it stays warm, the heater works, I dont have smoke coming out when its warm outside, only when its cold... and its 20 degrees outside... I dunno, I know im not touching the heads. screw it, i'll let it blow before I mess with those while the motor is still in the car... I'll buy another motor and rebuild the damn thing. lol it would be easier! lol
