ok well i see theres a lot of conterverce about this mod cuse the tension pully isnt being used well i redeside the idler pulley mod theres going to be some cutting and smoothing out to make this work but at the end u can still use your tension pully now and with out idler
here i cut the nipple and smooth the arrow really smooth as shown in the pic
here i cut off the hole thing where my idler pully sat on
this is how it looks when its all done sorry about the pic i take better ones later

hehe, Chop-chop and done.
it shouldnt cause you problems but,
remember, we went thru analysis already:
1. Idler pulley - what does it serve? AC. It increases belt contact with AC pulley.
By removing it AC pulley-belt contact area decreases. How do you compensate that?
2. You have used one size smaller belt, right? Because if you didn't, than you have less contact area on AC+ less tension on the belt..
It definitely easier to do than my method, it also less thoughtfull.
I could of post this ^^ !pulley ages ago, but I'm sure I would get nailed for that and not without the reason.
p.s. I would appreciate if you will rename the subject of your post. Thank you.
true it is easyer to do it your way but mine is the safest way i can still use my tesion pulley yours doesnt yes u would need a smaller size belt but your method needs one too. your mod and mine mod does the same thing it takes away the idler pulley mine is just cleaner and safer :)
Uhmmm why is it hard for some to comprehend that Gora's method does still use the tensioner? Eh ya know what, this is a stupid argument anyways. Let me know when you figure out that porting a valve cover is good for a N/A car. pshhhhh
Tensioner stays. Its needed.
I have edited my post in original thread to make things clear. Also will edit entire writeup , as I see there is lots of thing that not 100% visible. Will put important things in bold.
Kal-el , don't want to put you down, its all good , but if you will try to answer my questions, you'll realize that in order to compensate for idler pulley you will have to reroute the belt. I dont know what did you mean under "cleaner" but doing your way is definitely Not Safer.
I hope you'll understand.

lmao I would port out my valve cover before I wasted time deleting a friggin idler pulley
you can't really say that this is the "real" mod. there are alot of different kinds of pully mods, depending on what you have done to your car, what what the plans are. i had to just fab mine up to get it to work. and i'm sure that there are alot of other people like that too. if the belt goes around, it's ripped where it should be ripped, and smoothe where it should be smooth. the car turns on and runs. then that is the "real" pully mod
as you can see here i have my idler pully in there, but i changed it to ripped, i did an a/c delete so there is no pully there anymore. also i have an electric water pump so that is another thing gone. i had to make my own belt route. then mess. out the length for the new belt.
(kristen) that is true i guess everyone has there own way on doing a pulley mod or any mods (iGoRa) i totally understand and what i ment about safer was people where talking about the belt streching and that it would get lose and the tesion pulley would not have done its job cuse the way the belt was routied and what not so i just figured that since i did it this way u wouldnt have to worry about thoughs things. so i was try to take your idea and make it better and i shouldnt have put the title as the "the real idler pulley mood" which was my mistake and i am sorry for that so hopefuly no hard feelings
