I remember that you moved the controls over to the drivers side as well. It sounds like the blend door is not operating properly, maybe one one the lines was disconnected or broken when you moved the controls. If you have good coolant flow through the heater core and the blower motor works, then it is probably the blend door controls.

Re: heat
The reason I asked is had the same problem on a Cutlass that I used to have. That had two problems.
1. There was a valve on the heater hose that stopped the flow when the selector was placed on "MAX AC". In that case the heater core was cold to the touch. Turned out the valve was bad and it was stuck closed.
2. After fixing problem #1 I still had no heat. However, the heater core was very hot. I then discovered that the blend door (which moves when you move the selector from cold to hot) was not working properly. I adjusted the cable and I had very hot heat from that day on.
If your heater core is getting hot then the issue is under the dash for sure. You mentioned that you removed the blend door. I am wondering if that might be part of the problem. You need the blend door to stop the cold air from mixing with the hot air or you will not have any heat.
