• Poor Gas Mileage 3.8

I usually get between 15-16 mpg. I drive easy, but it is all city driving. Once I got 18mpg an I was thrilled.

I have replaced the air and oil filter. And changed out all the fluids I can think of.

What else can I do? What type of gas mileagee do you fellow 3.8 owners get?

Has anyone tried acetone?

should probably mention its a 2001 camaro. Bought it used, owned it for a few months. Should all that stuff really be bad already?

How many miles are on it, and what has been done to it/replaced. When I'm driving, I usually get between 19-22mpg city. The only things I've done are in my sig as well

No mods besides a cat back exhaust, I have no idea what brand it is or anything... I know the muffler was messed up when I got it so I put a magnaflow or dynomax I cant remember muffler on it.

No other performance mods that I am aware of.

I would love to get 20 mpg.

19 mpg combo driving (city-freeway) my foot is always heavy.

almost 30 mpg freeway only.

21 mpg (city-highway) with 1.5 ounce acetone per 13 gallon tank.

32-33 mpg (freeway only) with 1.5 ounch acetone per 13 gallon tank.

that is with the mods in my sig.

something is perhaps broken on your car. Others have already givin great suggestions in this thread. Good luck.

I get about 280 - 300 miles per tank. Now I do get into the gas a bit when I am on the highway and back roads. This is mainly country road driving with alot of turns, and <suggestive> stop signs. ;) I just did the free ram air, and a smooth bellow, so I guess its going to drop a little. ;) I started to use acetone when I fill up..... Maybe its a bit much since I am doing 4 oz. for a complete tank. Like, my light comes on when its time for gas. LOL Maybe I should cut back on it, I thought it was 1.5 oz per 10 gal. or something... hmmmm I better read up on that again.

I am going to replace the PCV valve as soon as I can find the damn thing :-P

I will also replace the fuel filter when I get the oil changed.

I would like to replace the o2 sensors. But if it only saves me 1 to 2 mpg... then it will take a long *** time to make up for the 130 bucks or so for new sensors.

You mentioned acetone, a chemical thats been tested & somewhat proven to increase overall mileage but Im not sure what increases can be found in city driving.
Perform a search for acetone and you'll get an idea what's going on. Home Depot sells them if you dont know where to purchase it.
