Ok, so I went to get my car from the dealership today, cause they finally fixed that awful misfire problem I had. Thing is, the car is ticking really bad now. I'm going to check the oil in a few to see if it somehow drank oil while it wasn't moving, cause it doesn't leak. (Or, it didn't before all this started...lol)

This is starting to irk me really badly. Dealership better hope that its just low on oil now, else I'm going to make them fix whatevers wrong with my engine, even if they have to tear the entire thing apart and rebuild it.

Yea, let them no about it Asap that way they know it didnt happen sometime later on from other reasons, and ask them specifically what they did to fix the misfire problem. You dont have to let them keep you in the dark about the work they do on YOUR vehicle.

I can't tell if the ticking noise is coming from inside the engine, or from the front of the engine. I was advised a while back that either my water pump or alternator was going out...could either of those produce a ticking noise if they were getting ready to take a dump on me?

Possibly i guess but not usually, if you have a screwdriver or solid rod of something you can put the end of it on say the water pump or alternator, or wherever, and then if you feel the tick in your hand then thats the culprit.

no way its your alt or WP. its a lifter or something much worse. $10000 says its internal.

It should say on your invoice what was customer complaint and also what the mechanic did. As for the tick, I would say egr tube, manifold leak , or even harmonic balancer. I posted awhile back about a loud tick, knocking sound. Everyone posted saying, its a lifter, bearing etc. Turned out to be balancer was dry rotted in the inside of it. Replaced for a $100 dollars. Also had another ticking sound up front, tuned out to be the EGR tube going from the header to the EGR. Had a rip in it, right where it connects to the EGR. So I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. The 3800 motors are pretty strong, so unless you ran it with no oil or threw a 500 shot of nitrous on it, I would just wait and see. My guess is that it is something simple so I wouldn't worry about it too much until you find out the real problem. Good luck.

I don't see how the dealer would be at fault....the tick may have been there but disguised by the misfire

Exhaust manifold gasket or lifter?

True but if the tick was there before and the dealer fixed the misfire, they would have noticed the tick after that, and would have mentioned it to the customer.

I'm getting ready to leave for work, but I'm gonna call the dealership today on break. See what they say, and probably take it to them either at lunch, or get off work early and take it to them then.

I spoke too soon. Left work to take my car to the dealership. (Didn't get off early, the mechanic said he'd wait for me.) Got about half way, and something white starting billowing out from underneath my hood. Amidst vociferous cursing, I managed to pull my car over into a near-by gas station, which agreed to let my park my car there until I get it towed. Called the mechanic, let him know. I guess I'm gonna get outta work sometime in the morning, have it towed, and see whats up. I'm about to the point where I'm just gonna fix it all and rebuild/replace the whole damned engine -_-

I win, well unfortunately I was right, it was internal....now you either ripped your way thru a head gasket or worse.

Not necessarily. It could be something as simple as a busted radiator hose. Wouldn't be the first one I've blown apart.

Blew a clamp off the hose, fixed no problem. Ticking is coming from the crank sensor, which I just had put in by a different garage. Going to have the car pulled to said garage by said garage, and make them fix it. For free. ^.^
