Ever since I bought my car, I thought something was funny, because the VIN doesn't come up correctly. When I put it through a VIN decoder (like the one found on camarosource.ca) it comes up as a 97 3.8 Camaro, and all that. BUT! When I take it to a dealer, they say it's not a valid VIN; when I went to get a PCM from PCM4Less, they said it wasn't a valid VIN; when when I had it looked up for RPO codes, it came up as not a valid VIN. Thing is, scanners read it just fine, the decoders show that it's valid, the stamped badge in the windshield has the same VIN, and so on. I just read in the technical database, the VIN decoding write-up, and everything checks out, even my "Check Digit". In my VIN, it's a 6, and according to the write up, it should be an 6. Any suggestions/other ways to find the history of the car and find the real VIN besides a VIN look-up? All my RPO codes have been ripped off the door, which is why I even began looking it up.
