  • Coolant Sensor Location

Today, I started to have temperature problems, not a usual behaviour, "temperature" on the gauges rises in a matter of seconds when stopping on a red light, and goes down when accelerating in a matter of seconds too. I wanted to change the coolant sensor, but I've tried to find, and I don't see it, maybe I getting blind or something. Can someone tell me where is it?

    my car is a 1997 3.8 firebird.

check your coolant level. Mine does the same exact thing when I'm low. I'm not sure how the firebird is set up, but when you put coolant in, put it in the radiator itself, not the little screw off cap to the left that says coolant.

to add to ^ make sure the car is cool, but running with the heater on full blast when you fill the coolant. The sensor on mine (2000)should be a brass fitting right under the throttle body with 2 wires coming out. When was the last time it was flushed completely it may be time, or overdue.
