  • MSD Wires from LMPerformance?

So I ordered new plug wires from LMPerformance for my 2000 v6. The part number is 3183. I cross-checked their website and that appears to be the part number it lists for them, but there are 9 wires in the box. Did I get the wrong part, or am I supposed to figure out which wire goes to each cylinder, and throw out the others?? I'm thinking something is screwy...

send me the extra 3 =)

maybe its like hotdog buns (your cylinders) and hotdogs (the wires.) hotdogs come in packages of 10 while hot dog buns come i packages of 8.... cuz you know when your grilling drunk you'll probably drop 2 of the dogs on the ground or into the fire..... i don't think i can be any more clearer.

        Re: MSD Wires from LMPerformance?

I think it's a generic kit that will also fit certain v8s, and the 9th wire is for the distributor cap. I haven't ordered mine yet, but I think the part numbers might be the same. It has been a couple months since I checked though, and I have drank a lot of beer and lost a lot of hot dogs since then...

Edit- I just did a search on MSD's website, and they are showing a specific wire set for just the v6. I'm beginning to think they might have sent you the wrong ones.

Just use the ones that fit best (lengthwise) because I guarantee the wires are the same between the v8 and v6 kits, they just cut them to different lengths.

did anyone else use these yet. i got them a while ago and couldn't use them cause the wires where too short. that is why i love my taylor cut to fit. i can give it the extra room i might need.

be careful that they don't touch your headers

I had a suspicion of that. The longest ones don't look like they'd come close to reaching the other side...

*Sigh* I guess I could try to get through one of those horrible online returns...

I got a reply that they're e-mailing me a return shipping label, so I just went ahead and ordered the actual v6 set, which I hope is MFG# MSD-32089.

i never liked the msd wires, the boots were too big and didn't fit well on the terminals. The taylor pro's on the other had are totally bad ***

Did you buy these precut, or cut them yourself?
