  • Seafoam tip

I just did the seafoam cleaning on my engine, and I found something that made it 10x easier. I'll add a pic when I get back home.

All you need is a 2 liter soda bottle!

Cut the bottle to form an oblong funnel, and slide the brake booster vacuum hose into the top, it fits perfectly inside. While pouring the seafoam in, you can meter the flow by adjusting the angle of the soda funnel. I kept a pool of it in the area below the screw on top end, and kept pouring; when it sounds like it's about to die lower the cut end so less flows in. When it comes time to finish it off, let a bog pool form, turn it away from your face and quickly raise the cut end so it all flows in. I hope you turned it away from your face because it spits violently.

Specific info for cutting the bottle: Start the cut on the top end right below the seam joining the curved and straight areas. Continue diagonally towards the bottom while rotating it. Once you get to the bottom, start cutting back towards the top, aiming for the beginning of the first cut. If you are good with the boxcutter/knife you can do it in one long curved cut.

so what were u trying to do before using the 2 liter bottle? ...... dont tell me you were pooring the seafoam into the booster line via the sea foam can.... cuz that would suck

No, I WAS using a funnel, but getting the right amount in was a b*. The revs were all over the place and it died a few times because too much went in. I used the area below the screw on top to act as a reservoir as I was pouring, and adjusted the flow by tilting the bottle. I thought it was a lot easier than just pouring into a funnel.

I used to work for Jiffy Lube and they screwed my raise, so I now have a fuel system cleaner vacuum bottle. Hangs from the hood and connects to the brake booster :)
