Actually, the hump there is the 4th gen F body connection to the 3rd gen F bodies. The 3rd gen f bodies have the same thing. On the 3rd gen f bodies, yes, it was put there to alow for the cat. On the 4th gen, the cat could & should have been put in without the hump, but GM chose to continue to use the same basic floor pan design- presumably to save costs.I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
