  • MY KEY IS STUCK IN MY IGNITION! HELP!!!

I turned my car on, gave it a few revs, went to take out my key and it was.....STUCK! I had to stall the car to turn it off. I tried wd-40 and wiggling the ignition but the key wouldnt come out. I think I am pretty screwed. Funny thing is, I just had my exhaust installed 2day and it sounds great and this happened while i was making a video to share with you guys, how great is that???

this has happened to me twice, once I took the ashtray out to put my ipod in there and it blocked something, another time i had a new shift knob and it was pressing the button down (not a problem for you)

Make sure the shifter is all set and in the proper position.

Might have something to do with the button that has to be depressed to turn the key and remove it. Something happened to mine where now if I press that button down it won't allow the lock to be turned to the off position, but I can turn the key without pressing that down and it shuts off fine.

It could also be your key too if it is very worn. If you can get it out take it to a dealer and have them cut a new key, not make a copy of the existing one. They'll have to match up your resistor.

jerk the steering wheel back and forth a bit, might not of locked correctly. Also wiggle the shifter to make sure it is in park.

So the ignition wouldn't turn back to allow the key to get out? Try messing with the little button. I don't know what else would stop the ignition from turn to off unless the thing just crapped out on you and locked up some how.

You try turning it back without pressing the button? Like I said, something in mine broke where if I do press it it won't turn. So I turned it really hard without pressing the button and now I don't have to ever press it, just turn the key off.

haha j/k. looks like ur either gonna hafta hit up a dealer or start taking apart ur steering column. maybe try to pull out the whole key assembly with a screwdriver? i dunno, i'm sure you can figure it out if u go at it.

This has happened to me before in a customers car.. it was a ford escort and they key couldnt come out and it wouldnt go into gear. and the steering wheel wouldnt move.
it was some sort of solenoid that went bad and it was just a fluke it happened when it was in our shop..
either way the car had to be towed. i cant say thats what happened with ur car but ive seen it b4
