There's a rod that's connected from the ignition lock to a big switch located on the top of the column about half way down to the floor ... take off the dash piece under the column and feel around up there for it ... mine got jammed up once and all I needed to do was wiggle the shaft and it came free ... good luck !!

Is there steering wheel locked? If so, agressively jam it side to side while trying to turn the key back.

Thanks for all the help. The wd 40 did help, i left it sitting soaking on it through the night, got up in the morning played with the ignition some more, moved it back and forth like 100 times and it budged it moved to the middle. Then i pushed back really hard and it worked. Got my key out. But ever since its been acting up. Now my car doesnt want to start i turn the key and it makes a hissing noise, but after i play with the ignition for a little bit its starts, its weird. I think ima just get a new ignition, problem is im looking at them and it gets into this whole VAT key thing that i need. How can I read what type of VAT key i have?

That's the fuel pump turning on.

My key reads 887, when i test it, or something close to that. Take a meter, and use the ohm setting, it looks like the unside down U on the meter. Take your meter and hold one lead on one side of the chip and the other lead on the other side of the chip. On the metal parts of the chip "the center". And the reading you get is the resistance of your chip. The hissing you hear is a short you have created by shooting wd-40 into your ignition. Also you dont have to get another VAT ignition, you can simply soilder a resister inbetween the wires and get a regular one. Let me know if you need more help.

I have heard it prime, and hear a little "motor" sound, but NEVER a hissing sound.

Considering what ive read about this, and what you've done, and the hissing has just now started, and your ignition problems have just begun.... I think your wd-40 f*cked it up. Spraying any type of cleaning liquid or lubricant into a majorily electrical area is commonly a bad thing. That would have been my last and final option if nothing else worked. Good luck though.

were you able to understand how to read your key with a meter?

This was like the same problem with my '89. I literally had to wiggle it and play with the steering, then muscle it out.

Later on I took it to Pepboys I think and had the safety thing deleted. Now it's just a regular key.
