Ok i've been trying to figure out why i'm idling at like 2000 in nuetral and Its gotta be a vaccum leak cause I can hear the loud sucking noise.. Question is how do i fix this problem I have not a clue how to fix vacuum problems on a car and would like to do this myself to save myself from over paying a mechanic..

I'm gonna try to check some of this stuff tomorrow mroning before i go to work and see if I can find out what is going on.. And that strong sucking noise is the air being sucked in and I've heard a few firebirds and non of them suck air like that. So i'm thinking right now Throttle issues on top of that Vacuum leak as well.. I'll keep posting as i figure out what fixes the problems..John
Flowmaster custom piping, K&N intake and filter, catco high clow cat, stage II clutch, More to come.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2036060

Ok. I don't know how much you know about cars, or about this engine, so if I'm telling you something that is completely basic to you, I apologize. Your engine should look exactly like this, even if it is a bird:
Here are some problem areas that I've experienced as far as vaccuum leaks:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v132/digi01/121.jpg
The T-shaped connector circled in green is very tempremental and is known to split in our cars after a lot of miles and a lot of hard driving. Inspect this peice.
The whole PCV harness is prone to split:

Besides the connections made to the "T" peice, there are 4 other connections which may be loose and are casuing a leak. They are where the arrows are marked. Now that I think of it, there should be a diagram like this under your hood.
Have you dismantled your throttle body?K&N CAI, Magnaflow High Flow Cat, Flowmaster American Thunder 2.5\" Cat-back exhaust w/ 40 series Muffler (single piped exit), Pacesetter Midlength Headers, TB Bypass.

Vid of my 3.4 - http://media.putfile.com/Headers49

Wow dude that helps alot. ANd no i have not dismantled my throttle body i just bought the car 2 months ago havent had much time to tamper with it. If i would have known I was going to buy something i'd spend more time fixing than driving i would have bought a newer one with less miles I have 137,000 on this car so i'm gonna check all this crap tomorrow morning.John
Flowmaster custom piping, K&N intake and filter, catco high clow cat, stage II clutch, More to come.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2036060

That is Where I think that hard sucking noise I hear all the time when i turn the car off is coming from. As well when i'm driving and stepping on the gas i can here it sucking in air like a Loud Whistle sound so should i just replace this whole vacuum piping or try beating the crap out of it ?? HAHA!!!!John
Flowmaster custom piping, K&N intake and filter, catco high clow cat, stage II clutch, More to come.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2036060

Ok I checked all the vacuum lines took em all apart check them no leaks as far as I can see and hear. Tryed the carb cleaner to see if I could get it to bog down.. Nothing.. So my dad and I were checking some stuff and that Loud air sucking sound that I hear when i shut to car down seems from he says coming from the manifold.. Is there a possibility that it can be cracked and if it is can it be fixed ?.. any more options would be great at this point.John
Flowmaster custom piping, K&N intake and filter, catco high clow cat, stage II clutch, More to come.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2036060

WELL I fixed it today!!! I decided to go gaskett hunting and replace them all. SO i took apart my entire upper Intake which happens to be a PAIN IN THE ARSE!!!.. anyway took it all off replaced all the gasketts, Intake manifold gaskett egr gaskett Throttle body gaskett. cleaned out everything shop vac'd and then proceeded to put back together the intake system. Hard thing is getting gaskett to stay on intake manifold and with the 3.4 Space is very limited and its hard to get rear Plenum screws in so you have to put them in first and line up the fuel injectors and manage to keep the gaskett in place. ALl in all day project fired up the car down to 700RPM's Idling .. Just a Idea incase someone else has some Vacuum issues or is idling wayyyy to high. Also try to get a friend to help you do this too its that much easier. I had to do it by myself probably woulda cut the time in half..John
Flowmaster custom piping, K&N intake and filter, catco high clow cat, stage II clutch, More to come.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2036060
