  • Car Shakes???

I have a question for you guys. I have a 2002 V6 Camaro with about 94,000 miles on it. Just recently it has started to shake under full throttle. It only does it when it is above 3,000 RPM. It also feels like the car is losing power when above 3,000 RPM. What could the problem be? Any and all information would be helpful. Thanks.

Could you describe the shaking a little better? Sounds like it could be the fuel filter or plugs, but more info would be ideal.

how violent we talkin here? I had some unbelievable shaking from my car, thought it was the driveshaft cuz it was shaking the whole car. Turns out it was a mixture of vacuum leaks, and misfiring.

It feels like it is coming from either the transmission or drive shaft. I just had a new fuel pump put in about 9 months ago. I also just put new MSD wires and plugs in the car about 5 months ago. The motor seems fine. Does not hesitate at all when I just rev it. The shaking comes from the middle of the car, right around the front seats.

Pretty bad because its never happened before and the car no longer accelerates good under full throttle. It also seems like it's losing power somewhere in the drivetrain.

start with plugs and wires. then go to fuel filter. see if that helps.

The problem got worse today. The shaking starts after about 10% throttle in any gear. However, I tried downshifting and no shaking. Any one have any ideas?

try doing a quick visual inspection of the driveshaft. Replace the fuel filter and see if the problem gets any better.

while looking at the driveshaft check your tranny mount, mine kept snapping and shaking voilently and smacking the underbody of the car.

My first thoughts: Universal Joint !
Jack it up, or drive it up on stands (like that works on our cars ) and look under there. You should find something loose.

Check the u joints, carrier bearing (if it's a 2 piece drive shaft) and the trans mount.

I'd look at trans mount first. good luck

Mine is doing that when its cold at 2k rpm under moderate load. Do a routine tune up (plugs, wires, seafoam, fuel filter) until you take the diagnostic any further. U joints and trans mount are worth checking, both are quite inexpensive.

Note, it won't be a vacuum leak, since vacuum leaks tend to show at idle and/or lower rpm.
