Best next mod

Hey, my maro is stone stock except for my cat-back and intake. My Question is wut is the best next mod i can do for under $800? I'm looking for as much GO as i can get for around $800.

Headers...Thats what I will get after I get my exhaust put on next week.

Headers will do a lot for sound, but for the money they generally don't show good horsepower increases (emphasizing FOR THE MONEY) you could do better mods if you're looking for horsepower per dollar. If you have an automatic a torque converter would do a lot more for the car than headers, you'll see a huge difference in response. It's not a horsepower mod but your car will be faster.

3.42 gears $100-150?? = faster
plugs and wires $70 = 4-6hp
TB spacer $40 = 5 hp

Personally, I know adding horsepower is fun....but I would hook up the suspension first. All that horsepower is no good if you can't hook it.

Torque arm, LCA's, panhard bar, poly bushings and rear tranny mount. You can get all of that for under $800 easily, and they are all simple installations that can be accomplished in your driveway in one afternoon.

I'm looking at making my own intake---Die V4v8...got a "how to on that", and I will search in a minute ;)

buy a filter (cost me $26)
buy two 4" clamps $1.98
buy one 4" to 3" reducer (or whatever will make the 4" hose fit the filter...my filter was 3" hence the reducer) $1.49
4" dryer ducting ($8) Remember to get the semi flimzy stuff. if you get the metal you wont get the results you want when your engine heats up. get the "ghetto-chrome" stuff and if will reflect heat, fire resistant, and keep a constant 4" tube, even by the ABS system.

did a search to find the link that I used, but this link shows the type of ducting material. i really felt the difference all through the rpm range and its much more responsive. just hook the hose strait to the intake, hose to the 4" to 3" reducer then from the reducer to the filter then either place it in the regular spot or take your fender wells off and put it down there. even on a hot day when the filter is underneath you can drive in the city and feel the filter and its not hot. infact its kinda cold because of the MASSIVE airflow going through it.. definetly worth the money. oh yeah. and you wont have a temp sensor spot to plug your sensor into so go to radioshack and for a dollar you can get 5 resistors(5.6K) and you only need one to plug in. post up on your results or if you need some more help. good luck
