no, after the water runs clear, let it drain, then close the petcock, add your fluid, and follow the directions i gave you in the second post.

      Re: Full Coolant Flush

The problem I have with the petcock is that you end up getting the fluid flowing through the engine with the clean stuff your adding to the radiator. It takes alot more time and coolant to get the system finally flushed. That is why I disconnect the upper rad hose cause the stuff comming from the engine goes directly into the collection container.

And yes the method I suggest does flush the entire system, rad, block, and heater circuit.

To make it a little simplier... Run the hose till the water is clear. At that point your engine block should be full of plain water. Now fill the raditor with 100% antifreeze. The two will mix to a 50/50 solution fairly quickly.

yeah but what if you don't add the right amount? thats why i like the 50/50 premix.

I'm still tryin to figure out a way to flush the whole system with water, then somehow refill it safely with 50/50.

after i drained the rad, i used 50/50 and it was almost spot on with the little gauge i bought

Even if it ends up 60/40 you will still have plenty of protection. Its not rocket science and doesnt have to be exact. And don't waste your money on the premixed solutions. Your just paying extra for water.

so once your whole system is filled with water, you add the full coolant solution? .... but you'd want to empty half of that i mean right? before u add the coolant that is....

just buy the 50/50 mix, its not much more money, you dont need to worry about buying distilled water, and you know its going to be close to a 50/50 mix

personally, i wouldnt want to fuss around trying to figure out how much coolant or water i should add

Don't look for a bleed screw. The 3.4L does not have one. Just fill the radiator and start the engine with the cap off. As the level drops keep filling it up. When it does not drop any more put the radiator cap back on. Fill your overflow to the correct level and if the radiator needed any more it will suck it out of the overflow bottle.

Right. When the water runs clear drain the radiator and fill it with straight anitfreeze. The water in the block and heater core will mix with the antifreeze in the raditor. I usually get about a 50/50 mix when I check it a day or two later (needs time to mix).
