• Insane Idle, Loud Intake Noise

I just installed a walbro 255. Everything for the fuel pump seems to be fine. I also replaced my PCV Valve.

When i start the car the idle is crazy, and is a really loud slurping noise that seems to be coming from the intake part of the engine. If i take off all of the air baffles i can hear it from the throttle body really loud. Im thinking it might be something to do with the PCV valve, although im not sure how i could screw up the install.

I bought the new one, took the old one out, dropped the new one in, put the spring on top, and screwed the plate back on.

It feels like air is escaping from somewhere around there, but that could just be the alternator .

Please help!

-Kevin

?? Dunno...?
Put something in back of the alternator to block it from blowing air (like a piece of cardboard), and re-check the area you think the leak is coming from.
Not sure because I never installed a fuel pump on a 4th gen, but do you think the injectors are compatible with the new pump? Is your fuel filter clogged?

Just throwing idea's around.

Bought a new fuel filter and put that on when i got the new pump. To be honest with you it sounds like a vaccuum line is off or something. Its making a really loud sucking noise, i just find anything wrong, i didnt touch anything other than the pcv.

My car kinda makes that exact same sound also.
I put a walbro 255 in to. When i turn the key its really loud and sounds like a SLurping sound from the engine... But i have no problems with it.

Is the car throwing any codes? Have you checked for vac. leaks?

Dont have a programmer and cant drive it so i cant bring it to autozone, SES light isn't on or anything, but its never lit up anyways. It sounds like a vac. leak but i dont know where to check?

You can take a small piece of paper and move it around the suspect area, it will lead you to the leak.

It wasn't a leak, it was the lack of fuel being sent to the intake that was creating the vac. The hoses on the fuel pump assembly weren't hooked up right, but everythings fine now.
