Ok im about to order a jet stage 2 chip in about 2 weeks I need to know with my mods if I would be able to install this chip? I have the stock thermostat on my car and I need to know If I can install this chip with the stock thermosat? Would my car run fine or would it run hotter ?What if I bought a manual fan switch would this help it instead of a 160 or 180 degree thermo.

The timing is advanced and it is not that the car runns hotter it is that the increase temp of the engine (195 Vs 180 or 160) can cause predetonation or knocking.
The thermo is not very expensive. I have the 180 in my car, I had the 160 but with a rag top it can get cold in the car and I had no heat with the 160.
I got a lot of SOTP gains with the stage 2 with the exhaust and thermo. I am happy with it....but I did lose an average of 5 MPG. Drop me an email with any q's.

So does this mean I have to install an 160 degree thermostat? I already have one but its just that my mechanic told me something about he cant put one on unless I get a new intake manifold because the bolts are stripped on the one I have on now. And I really dont want to go through the trouble of putting a new intake manifold just to put on a 160 degree thermostat.

It is very easy to install. Get at least a 180 thermo. The car seems to run just a tad warmer. Got mine from autozone for 5 bucks. If I was to do it again, I would get the modified 180 thermo, or just modify it yourself. That would allow the thermo to run at about 175 degrees. Look at the picture at zzperformance.com to see a modified thermo. I bought mine for racesearch.com for about 212 dollars. ammpeformance.com has them also.

my mechanic said I cant put a thermo on my car right now unless I get a new intake manifold because the bolts on the intake manifold I have on my car now are stripped so that means I cant put a thermostat. Can some one help me out alittle with this? I just dont get why I have to put a new manifold on my car just for a thermostat.

You don't need to take off the intake manifold to get the thermo housing off, you just need an articulating socket (the socket needs to articulate not an add on arm or you run out of space under the manifold). If you need a new intake manifold for the 3.4 I have one in the garage....still waiting on the P&P...or V8 swap.
I've done the thermo a couple of times...other than the tight quarters (a magnet bolt retrieval is my friend) it is easy. Drop me an email, I can talk you thru it.

BTW the JS2 is an easy install. just plug and play.
I ran a group buy a while ago with a guy named Carlos @ I-5 Components. He sold them for $195 and was easy to work with. Call him at (714) 981-3773, he may give you a good price if you mention I referred you (remind him I ran a Group Purchase) since the GP ended with 20 or so units.

If you do get it tell me if the gains were worth the money, I have been planning this but but jsut never went through I already have a 160* stat.
As for the stat, if I were you I woudl pop off the Throttle body, throughly clean it form all angles, jsut doing that way back when I noticed an increase in performance, and with it off the thermostat is a joke, only 2 bolts on TB, and 2 bolts on thermostat housing.
If the bolts arte stripeed you can be amazed what a good set of Vice grips can do, they are not in ther tooo tight.
I got a 160* stat I think form thunder racing for like $6.
And the question no one has answe5red completely is I woudl get it, there is a reason for the manufacturere to get it, and with a 3.4L usually being higher mileaged, I would do it ot be safe, besides you are in FL, with me, made a world of difference in the summer.
good luck
I got a lot of gains from the chip (SOTP) I have not dyno'd the car....I have been in Orlando where the temp dropped enough where I wished I had a higher temp thermo.......
I would get the 180 thermo at min.

Im ordering the Jet stage 2 chip today and would be glad to tell you the performance gains out of it . I also just got my G-Tech so that could also come into play with this to , and its a great tuning device I heard. Im hoping the bolts are not stripped but Ill try the vice grips and see what those can do for me.Thanks
