LT1s come with platinum from the factory. I used AC Delcos in my LT1 Z and the car ran like a champ. L36 comes with standard plug.

wow. this is all some good information... what its based on is another story though.
whether or not the iridiums create more power or not ill pay the extra money just so i dont have to change my plugs every 6k miles. it is time consuming and there is a measurable amount of wear and tear on tools to change them. i dont care who you are or what youre using to change them, doing so causes considerable more wear than changing a normal set of plugs.

as far as requiring double platinum plugs, well mine have lasted far longer than i expected and everyone i have asked they all agree the spark is too hot for a normal plug. not to mention the ones i have questioned informing me that their standard plugs havent lasted 2k miles...

bottom line. get double platinum and last longer than most of us keep our cars... or spend a few extra bucks, go iridium and last even longer plus the hassle of changing plugs that much further in the future.

just wondering... who are you talking to? How did their plugs only last 2k? What wore out or what made them think their plugs wore out?

I mean, a spark plug is a pretty basic component. I'd be very interested to know the circumstances that caused such premature failure (I am an engineer after all, and i love studying failures and what to do to not make it happen again.. all that junk..)

Too rich, too lean, valve stem seal leak, piston ring blow by, incorrect deck height, foreign object in cylinder, improper gapping, incorrect plug heat range, heavy carbon deposits, ash deposits - pick your poison :)
