After a while at the gym I get into start my car and it dosent start, at first. When I turned the key nothing happened it was silent, expect some of the gauges went up. Then I tried it again, and held it in place giving it some gas, and after about 5 seconds it started up. All my gauges were were they should be. Then when I got home and parked, I checked to see if it would do it again, and sure enough it did. Im pretty sure its not the battery, im almost positive. If this has anything to do with it its fairly cold outside, about 40 degrees (which is really cold in my area) and I'm about 100 miles over due on my next oil change. Why isn't my car starting up normally?

Next time turn your lights on before hitting the starter. If the lights go out it's a connection problem.

did your security light come on?

or maybe corrosion on the battery terminals?

if you have a manual trans. the clutch switch can eventually go out and cause power but no start
