i know this seems like a dumb question :rolleyes: but the leather on my shifter knob is all worn out

But the leather wraped around the acutal knob is lose and turns when the knob doesn't. [img]graemlins/rant.gif[/img] So how can I get the knob off. If you can understand that.
All i can think of is to cut off the leather but then if I still can't get it off then Im screwed. So if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly apperactied.
