It seems that I saw a 02 Firebird has a 15.5 gallon tank?
How did I put 15.7 gallons in it?

406.4 Miles on this tank... 26mpg

I don't know what the question is, how you got .2 more gallons in your tank?
Maybe you just squezed it in there.

At 2.89 you better get all you can get.

maybe the tank is 15.5 but the tank and filler neck is like 15.8 total?

only 98 and below fbodies had a 15.5 gallon tank.

plus, most gastanks only will to 80% full at the pump

i dunno, 75% of the time, my car is on E, and i havent friend my pump yet (i usually only put in a few bucks here and there)

if you run out of gas though it is very easy to fry a pump

and running on E all the time isn't the best

thats not what i mean.

in his first post he said he was getting 26mpg but now that we find out he has a bigger gas tank his mpgs are actually less. therfore ftl.

Not really, depending if he was going on miles per tank or miles per fill up. Miles per fill up is more accurate. Fill up, drive around normally, fill up again (both times till the pump stops) then take how many gallons it took into miles driven.

But its true, running that low too much puts strain on your fuel pump.

No, total mileage per tank divided by the amount of gallons you add to the tank

400 miles - 4 gallons, 100mpg etc...


And, "they" say your supposed to keep your tank above 1/3 full to prevent overstressing the fuel pump...
