I've built several mustangs with 350 transplants in them and even one toyota 4x4 but swapping anything but gm into a gm is just plain wrong

its like the saying goes... if you want a fast ford it'll need the heart of a gm.

anyone else here read hotrod magazine?
look at the results of drag week 07. the only fords that got any "best of" labels were chevy powered. only ford powered ford that got a label... got "fastest ford".

the ****ty ford motor comments are well deserved

As far as room goes, if you notice there is less room in a Mustang engine bay than a Camaro - so that wouldn't be a concern. I won't ask as to why, but I imagine it would essentially be a waste - only good for saying "I put a Ford engine in my Camaro".

other than the 4.6 used in the terminators, ford motors suck nuts.

ford overbuilt the 4.6 for the terminator to get around any warranty problems that might come up (mostly due to the 99 cobras and how many problems they had) which worked out pretty nice for the cobra guys.

have you seen a dohc 4.6? im guessing you havent. they are HUGE compared to a lt1 or ls1 and they are tight fits in fbodies. without having to do some fab work/cutting its not going to work.

4.6 sohc is definately not worth the swap... the dohc motor might be but there is little to no way to get that things fat a** into our itty bitty engine bays. the 4.6's are WAY too wide. i believe the 5.4 is a bigger version of the 4.6 so i dont think that would fit too well.

5.0, thats probably possible but, why?

LS based engines would be a better option. or a good old fashion big block.
honestly i see no reason for putting a ford motor in an f-body. but im sure it can be done.

too much effort for so little performance in my eyes. more bang for your buck with a SBC anyway. IMO

go w/a built 347 to tackle the space issues, and then go w/either a paxton or turbo.

not everyone here is a gm nuttswinger.

Your guessing wrong - I know plenty of people with Cobra's and a few with Mach 1's. My point was there is more room under the hood of a Camaro because the shock towers are further apart. If you've ever done headers on a 4.6 the stock ones cant even come out from the top and you have to jack the engine up to even get to all the header bolts, just because the shocks towers are closer together. Thats only for shorties. Long tubes require removing the K member. Yes, the Modular/4 Cam is wider, but if it can be put into a Mustang, its feasible that one could drop one into an F body. (Although its probably not worth the money, given the potential of GM engines).

negative, 347s are terrible boost motors. cylinder walls are super thin. buddy of mine just pissed away 10k on his 347/procharger project and its toast after a month of boost.
