• A warning from a moron

Well, many of you have probably read my previous thread regarding some serious problems that occured in my car following my cleaning of the TB.

It turned out that the majority of problems were caused by a coincidental problem (a spark plug wire burned up against the engine).

One problem remains, however. From a stop, if I start forward and then push the clutch back in (like if I was in stop-and-go traffic and wanted to coast a few feet) my RPMs climb to 3000 and stay there for roughly five seconds.

The GM Dealership told me that this is because I took the butterfly off of the throttle body to clean it, and that doing that screws up the throttle body.

Long story short, I cleaned my throttle body and now the dealer wants to charge me $750 that I don't have.

Did you not see the part where he said he pushed in the clutch? Reading Comprehension>you. I'm betting the car is drive by wire and totally FUBAR'd now.

hey ***... The TB I have is from a Automatic car. The 5Sp was an error on my part. It has nothing to do with reading comprehension. However since we are on the subject, How about if you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself. People like you keep people like me from doing good things on a site like this.

BTW, I also have a drive by wire TB as well. But because of your actions, neither are for sale now.

          Enjoy your day.

My car is a 1996 Firebird, M5 transmission. In other words, it is manual and not drive-by-wire.

Please don't get upset about this guys. It's really nothing to flame over.

Brand new throttle body from GM Parts Direct: $262 (24503387).

Get it even cheaper on eBay or the Wanted section.

I can tell you that from reading his posts and having quite an extensive automotive background myself HBHRacing really seems to know what he is talking about. I'm not quite sure why someone's lack of courteousy impacted someone who honestly needed help but that's the decision I guess and I can't change that.

I really don't understand some of the people on this board either. It seems like there are people out there who want to get into a fight but just don't have the guts to make comments to peoples' faces so they do it in places like this. I mean we are of all different opinions but some of the comments go too far. I also realize by reading some of those types of comments how much of an @$$ it can make someone look like especially when that comment pertains to someone's intelligence. And trust me, I realize I've posted some things that may have been taken as a little harsh. But if any of those comments have been taken as low blows or direct insults I apologize because they weren't intended to be. I'm not out to insult anyone or ruin their day and if for some sick reason I am I will at least have the common courteousy to do it to their face. But I'm here to help and to receive help when needed, not to act like a complete jackal.

EDIT: Lizzardfire, you may feel like a moron but you aren't. You made a mistake just like every human being does and now you can learn from it. Half of what I know about cars came from tooling around the local junkyard and breaking things just to know what to do and what not to do. Just take this experience as a part of your education. Sorry though that it was a bit costly but hopefully you get your car back on the road soon.
