Ok ok, so a SES light that comes on and off fairly quickly are probably misfires? Just asking because my gf's ses light goes on and off randomly when shes on the highway. I could never scan it though cause it never stays on.

nah i think some codes only come on when the car is at high speeds for a certain amount of time, i have no idea why. thats how my beater is, when it stays above 45 or so it will throw a code, but otherwise it does not.

If an auto parts store has a good OBD I scanner they should still be able to see what code was set off, I had a SES light go on for maybe 15 minutes, and then it went off and it never was on before and hasnt been on since and I had it scanned and it said an EGR valve malfunctioned.
I also had a misfire last summer and it went away when I changed back to stock coil packs from the ACCELs I put on there. Two of the ACCEL wires broke though when I was pulling them off to check my spark plugs, so I bought spark plug boot protectors just to help keep a little heat away from the wires by the manifolds.
Which cat did you get? If the codes say it's your cat, it's probably your cat :) It's possible you got a used cat or cheap-o and it's clogged already. And a clogged cat will cause misfires and reduced engine power.
well.... got the parts in put them on today and ummmm..... hmmmm... worse....lol.... it started out fine, and by the way it was misfire in #5, started driving it and about 5 miles down the road it started sputtering and then dieing.... limped home at 40 mph... new code is same misfire and now p0102 (maf)... wth?
The cat i got was catco, and yes there is now a exhaust leak, but its not really bad.
MAF sensor then. Advance Auto Parts should have one in stock (mine did), and they have a lifetime warranty and cost about $175. Make sure you get the one with the warranty, cuz I've had to use it 2x already. Cat should be fine. I'd get the exhaust leak checked out; how bad is "not really bad?"
cool, i didn't know about advanced carrying them, never had a prob with one b4. my friend is actually co-manager, he is going to help me fix my leak soon.... not bad is a crack on the old weld.
does it sound like the newest prob is my maf... didn't know they could disable a car in such a way.....
I think there is somthing wrong with it tho.... day broke and i looked at it and it looked as though the top was peeling off (lid). will it run with out it.....if so why do i need one....lol
1st of coils are $25, Bosch / E3 plugs are crap, get delco platinums. NEVER EVER use auto zone parts. Go to Advance auto and get Autolite wires. now go back over EVERYTHING, double check that all the wires snapped into place.

Peeling off the MAF sensor? I don't see how that's possible; you sure you're looking at the right sensor?
on the very top of the maf sensor there is a lid, but normally you can't just pull it open, but mine can, you can see circut board..... just going to get a new one tho.....lol..... and cross my fingers that i fix this prob and somthing like my engine fall out the bottom...
Ya, it shouldn't be open like that, then debris and water get in there and mess it up. Do like I said, unplug it and take it for a quick spin around the block. If the problems are gone, then it's your MAF sensor. It's not hard to do at all and could save you from spending $150 or so when you don't need it.
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
Hello, so I changed the front bearings on the bird and the ABS inoperative light came on. I made a mistake of not removing negative battery cable. Now...
