so Turbohead, did you get the GSS340 fuel pump from APE? Can you show me the one I need from there??? You bought the wiring and stuff seperately from there?
Go to http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com and click on "Applications". Scroll down and find where it says "LT1 owners, Read This". Click where it says "Read This" then scroll down the next page. Click "Buy LT1 Kit." It includes the pump, wiring harness, tubing, foam sleeve, etc. I think it was like 118 bucks and some change. That's all you need.
Since you've got the time to do it right, I would get a better-than-stock pump. When mine went out, I would have, except I was stranded far from home. My stocker just died w/o warning.
Yea, I think I'm going to go ahead and go with a performance Walbro pump from APE. It seems like it might last longer and is a better value, than a stock pump.
I got my walbro 255's off of ebay for like $110 shipped. So far it's been through running 10 psi with a powerdyne supercharger for about 3 years. Now been running a nitrous wet shot for almost 2 years and the walbro still working like a champ. So thats about 5-6 years now and no problems. Also for mine it was just plug and play for the wiring. I ditched the bucket and used hose clamps to attach it on. I highly suggest doing the cutting for the hatch for the trap door method. Best way to do it. I know I had the hose come off after I put mine in and it took maybe 15 mins to pull it back out and reconnect the hose. Now I just have a cover made of deadmat and it is just taped over where I cut so if I have to get back in there I just move the tape and cover.

Oh, cool, so all I need to do is just change the pump and not the whole assembly right? And by the way, thanks Turbohead, you're helpin me out alot.
Exactly. As said, wiring is plug and play. That LT1 kit comes with tubing and wiring as well. For 118 bucks, I don't think that can really be beat. That's the best deal I found. It's a high pressure, 255lph pump. If that's the route you go, be sure to use the plastic flex tube for the fuel line. The rubber hose crimps up.
Does the plastic flex tube come with the kit? Also all I would need is the kit for it to simply plug and play correct?
Yes. Everything needed except for some sort of glue to reassemble the bucket is there in that kit, though we used zip ties. :D The only thing we had to worry about was making sure they didn't get in the way of the float for the fuel level sender. Yes. It is plug and play. I'd recommend doing the access panel method to get to the pump.
Yea, I know the trap door is the easiest, but I just can't bring myself to tearing up my car.lol.
It's covered my insulation and carpet anyways. Besides, it will save you 5h!t tons of trouble and time. Remember that one important rule of auto mechanics: No matter how prepared you are for anything, something is going to happen that you weren't expecting and aren't prepared for.
If you don't like the idea of using a dremel, get yourself a pair of those sheet metal scissors. The name escapes me, atm. That's what we used.
