  • Cheap Mods???

hi i am looking to do some cheap mods to my 98 v6 firebird.. Right now i have headers, free ram air mod,k&N filter,MSD ignition, flowmasters, cutt off catalyc convertor, and has the dual exhaust along with the trans am spoiler."instead of the solid"..Im trying to learn about this car and what I can do to it for not going to expensive.. I usually piece things together as i get the money coming in.. What are some more basics that would help me out. Maybe 410 gears or 3.73??? Looking for somthing to help my performance! Also any ideas on exterior mods? Its black and has the chrome c5 wheels. Thanks

I wouldn't go for the gears. You will pay a lot for them (esp. installed) and if I remember correctly, the fastest members here have 3.08s and 3.23s(correct me if I'm wrong guys).

It seems like you have a good handle on most of what you can do other than head/valvetrain work, but just as I suggested in another thread, nitrous will be the best bang for your buck when compared to any other modification.

Superchargers and turbochargers are great, but they cost a lot of money. If you don't have a lot of money and want go when you need it, I suggest you look into a nitrous setup.

Get a whisper lid and SLP CAI...hell of a lot better than the free ram air mod.

if it's an auto and only has 3.08's, i'd get 3.73's and lsd, you can buy a rearend from a z28 or something on ebay and bolt it in yourself.

Dry is prolly easier to install and cheaper. You can get an NX or NOS system for around $500-600 and be able to run about a 75hp shot on your stock fuel system.
