  • Gotta beat a neon, have some money, need hp

ALright guys, i know you get this a lot, but theres a guy in some neon who wants to race me, of course he has probably 10,000 dollars in his car while i have bout 500 bucks in mine. they say he runs mid 14's and hes callin me out like a lil b****. So i told my dad and yeah he said well we will have to do somethin bout that. and so he might help me supe up my car. I want for you all to help me out by tellin me what to get for it as far as tuning and parts. Forced inductions nice, but ive always been an NA kinda guy, so any suggestions that will help are appreciated. Together we can take down this m***** f****** ricer!!!

Get a nitrous setup and you should be able to handle him.

Headers would also be advised, but you will get the most per $ from nitrous.

A Neon SRT-4 will run mid 14's stock. Better be careful.

its not an srt-4, all i know is that he has a cam, maybe head work, and nitrous for sure. Either way on his best day hell run a high 13, but thats not consistant. usually mid 14's.

if it were me, and my dad were cool enough to help me with my car, i'd go with a turbo. but, since you're an NA type of guy, i'd say headers, nitrous, cam, new rockers, etc.

On the top of your list should be gears. A steeper set of gears can drop your et by .5 or more. Don't know if you have an auto....but a torque converter can drop et by another .5 or so.

If your an n/a type of guy your screwed. Nitrous isn't N/a. Get a turbo and then laugh at him for using Nos. Either way your dad's isn't going to be happy after spending the money needed for your high 13s. He'll most likely call you insane if you try for it n/a. NOS is cheapest, turbo is sexier, N/A is by far the most expensive with the least rewards.

13's NA has been done before easily, cheaper than a turbo kit too. Someone on this board has a cammed out 99 camaro i believe with a redone suspension, shift kit, etc, etc. I would rather beat this kid saying im not even spraying or boosting.

Just don't overlook suspension when you do all this. You can make all the power you want but if you can't get it to the ground, it's pointless.

4 cylinder dodge vs 6 cylinder gm. Embarassing when you lose. Get some head work first, cam, higher gears in the rear end and go get him then.

ok i like the idea of head work and a cam. how much am i looking at spending on head work? also if i got higher gears id have to put an lsd in the rear too cause my launches are what kill me now.

Gears and LSD will be a must. As to the headwork, your better off find a machine shop in your area and talking to them about that instead of asking us. Unless someone from the missouri area on here can point you to a good shop they've used.

You an auto or a manual btw?
