So the story goes my brother used to have an Evo VIII, along the way somewhere he replaced the fuel pump and I figured what the hell... and I took the stock one and threw it in the bottom drawer of the tool box.

Well with my recent really bad misfiring problem I started to wonder about a fuel pump upgrade. Looked in the drawer, found this in the back. Roll back the wrap and what do I find? A Walbro GSS342





I know I will have to do the wiring, since I don't have the adapter, I can just splice it in right?. How does the rest of it all fit?

I see the 340 is what everybody recommends for our cars but is the 342 the same physical shape/size? Will the hoses match up and all as a replacement? It is still a 255 lph pump.

Went in like cake. Just spliced the wires in, with the sock I had with the new walbro it was pretty much a direct drop in. I did knock out a piece from the lower bucket though in the bottom.. made it so there is a round hole into the bucket now from the bottom.

Pump is so much quieter than the stock one I had, still have misfires though.
