    okay my car keeps kicking error code 420. sometimes on startup sometimes after wot, its kinda random. any ideas as to what this is and how to fix?

    DTC P0420 Catalyst System Low Efficieny.

      no, i know what it means (the low effiency deal) but i dont know what THAT means. am i making sense?? (actually in the book for my code reader it says catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank one)

                    99% of the time P0420 means the cat is bad. It's possible that the post-cat O2 sensor is bad but it's rare.

                    BTW, cat. converters should be covered for either 7yr/70,000 miles or 8yr/80,000 miles depending on where you live. Take it to a Pontiac dealer (it has to be Pontiac)and you might get a free cat.
