Just had a thought for a free mod on 3.4L... please tell me if you think its credible
Blocking off the EGR would definately help with freeing up some horsepower (not much but every little bit counts). After all the bolt ons and some internal work I'd start putting my Fbody on a diet and remove the A/C (as well as bypass the EGR and emissions items. When the time comes to test emissions, I just re-install them).
But is what you said credible?
I'd try it

Running motors lean will produce some more power but with motors these days controlled by computers, I don't think it would be a good idea. Your talking about creating a 'permanent' vacuum leak. Under hard acceleration, it would be somewhat beneficial but under normal driving, it would hurt you not to mention your gas mileage. But if you rigged a valve so you could control when it was open and closed would be better. Either way, I don't think it would be worth the effort.

EGR doesn't operate at WOT, if that's what you're thinking. If you're just wanting to smooth the intake airflow out a little bit, I doubt it's worth the effort. Also, air would most likely just leak out of the hole for the EGR, instead of into it. Intake leaks aren't good, ya know?
