  • car wont start

Ok so I was driving around lastnight and stoped to get gas, when I came out I started the car and was driving away then my car shut off, I tried to start it but alls it does is cranks over fine but wont start, this morning I pulled a couple of plugs to see if I had spark and nothing at all on any of them, I made sure that the plug on the back of the coil packs was pluged in, it is, so my question is could it be the PCM? any thoughts are appreciated I also made sure I hade fuel pressure so its not that

    Could be clogged fuel injectors.
Same thing happened on my old car, just died in the middle of driving then it wouldnt start but it would crank. Turned out to be that it needed a new alternator.

hmmm, how did u check for spark, stick a phillips screwdriver on the end of a wire at night and stick the driver close to a ground, and have a buddy crank it. it sounds like a fuel pump to me, if it is no spark try the ICM , ignition control module that the coil pack sits on.

will it start after u crank it a few times.. then like run bad for a lil while.. thats what mine did and it was the fuel pressure regulator.. but prally what yours is is injectors

start with simple things first. check battery, alt, first off. then go from there.

how did you check your fuelpressure? did you useafuel pressure gauge? mine showed up fine quite a few times before it finally died. it went from like 40psi to 7 or 8psi in a matter of hours and now im getting that problem worked out.

im almost positive that it is not your pcm.

i just re-read you post. deffinately check the alt and battery. just because it cranks doesnt necessarilly mean that the battery isnt dead. try a new battery and get the alternator checked.

              man this is going around....

about once every two months my car doesn't start on first crank. it was real bad the other day. normaly I just restart it a couple of times. sometimes I get the weird 'low idle and it quickly dies problem' other times it starts right up after recranking a couple of times.
this time was different. I almost went and got the keys to the truck. we are talking 15 restarts before the engine finaly fired. (otherwise/othertimes engine is perfect)
I did notice my fuel pressure was at 30 and below during this 'no start time'. for giggles i opened the gas cap and blead the shraeder valve. I restarted it acouple of times and finally the beast fired up. no other problems since then.

This has happend for the entire time i owned the car. it has 14,000 miles on it now. I was attributing it to 'change in seasons'...becuase it seemed to happen that way...a hot day after winter...cold day after spring, etc. But this last time was a bit much.

I don't want to start throwing parts at it.
Is this randome 'no start' on perfect car thing just a deal like anyother engine? I think so. This car is still far more realiable than any old school carbed hot rod or stocker I have ever owned.

one thing is for sure, though...when the car gets that 'low idle' and quickly shuts off after starting my fuel pressure gauge always reads real low. SC has been on for 5000 miles and it did this at sporatic times before the SC. Once the fuel system gets 'pumped up' for whatever reason on a particular turn of the key the car is fine.
              very strange.
