• Bosch Plugs SUCK

Man, for some odd reason I put the Bosch platinum 4 prong plugs in my car. Ya ya, they run super hot and the prongs are just more reason for that engine to pre-detonate. Anyways, I went and picked up some NGK TR55's to replace them.

As I pulled these plugs out with 10,000 miles on them they looked like crap. The prongs were white or black burned. Some were cracked. The electrodes looked like crap. What was left of them anyways. One plugs prongs were bent in (melted from heat?) and they were resting on the electrodes.

So to all you guys dont make the mistake I did... DONT BUY BOSCH

Not only are they the most expensive plug out there and they made the car run like crap. Once I put the NGK TR55's in it idles so much smoother. Sounds to much better, exhaust temp is alot cooler, under hood temp is alot cooler. Cars runs alot better now. Glad I threw that crap out.

We'll see if bosch stands behind their word of satisfaction of money back. If not they are going through the parts store window...

Maybe your problem isn't the plugs, but the tuning. Incorrect fueling can fowl plugs pretty quickly. Research your statements before you put down products. Bosch +4's are great, I've been running on them and obviously haven't had any problems.

I've heard from lots of people they are ****ty plugs. I'm taking it back up to the tuning place anyways. I'll have them look at it. They never ran well since I put them in my car. They never ran like these NGK's i put in do. It idles and runs so much smoother.

I run Bosch +4's in my camaro and they do just fine. A bunch of other guys that I know will swear by them.

And remember, new things always seem like they're so much better when you put them in because you're going from something that is used up to something that is brand new. So, just because you think they run so much better, don't ignore the idea that there might be something wrong with your car that's bigger than just the plugs.

Yep. ANY plug in new condition will run better than a shorted plug. I think the +4 is a good plug personally. That's what I use.

guys, the +4's are not for your engine. no argument at all to this. these are for high performance engines that require these guys. putting these in your 6 cylender will make your car run like teh poo-poo

No, no, the +4 is for marketing. The spark only jumps to the easiest spot. Singular. So unless you have fouling problems, the other 3 electrodes don't get you anything, except maybe blocking the flame path once things get going.

There is absolutly nothing wrong with my car. Half of it is rebuilt. Never has a problem and is maintained better than most. All fluids are always changed before trip to the track regaurdless of miles. Tranny and rear end 10k and oil 2-3k. Royal Purple Synthetic. Cars runs fine, doesnt leak anything, clean as the day it came off the floor.

I remember putting them in and how it ran because it was 10,000 miles ago. That wasnt to long ago.

Ya no **** something feels different when its new and used dumb ***. I could have had a 5 year old tell me that. No offense but think of what you just said.

All the guys I know at the local camaro club cant say anything good about them.

ok first off I checked your cardomain and I see you removed the EGR valve. that is going to increase combustion chamber temps. that in turns promotes detonation. If you are seeing any detonation it is f'ing up your plugs like you described, as in all bent up. and If I am not mistaken detonation will cause an uneven/unfinished burn for the mixture causing all the crap to build up on the plugs.

what kind of tuning are you using? if its like HP tuners or autotap you should see the detonation when your driving around.

Ya know, I was going to take offense at your flying off the handle at the simple suggestion that something besides the plugs might have been wrong with your car. Then I looked at your cardomain and saw you were 17. You seriously need to cool off. Just because you change the fluids a lot doesn't mean there can't be something mechanically wrong. I don't change the fluids in my car as often. In fact, I even end up mistreating my car a lot. But I don't have near the amount of problems with plugs as you do.

If you didn't want anyone to suggest that there might be something wrong besides the plugs, you shouldn't have even started this thread. Think before you post.

ok if you all like bosch so much then why did my dad tell me specifically not to use them? oh yeah thats cause he said they crack heads and they suck at making spark plugs. you didnt need to buy ngks though ac delco is a better plug for the price. i have iridum ac delcos and they have ngk stamped on them so i saved like 2$ a plug.
help me build the ultimate sleeper soon ill have a lot more mods than i can list and watch out for the spikes. 02 firebird
