Re: car stops reving when at WOT

if the car is having problems revving while sitting still then my guess would be fuel system. but if your car seems to be revving just fine in park or nuetral but when the vehicle is under load, it just doesnt seem like it wants to get up and move, thats when id say its a clogged/clogging cat.

so check for fuel problems, intake problems (doubt it though), exhaust restrictions (ie. clogging cat)

    good luck duder.

I'd still check the cat. It's an easy thing to check. If it's not glowing, then I'd go with fuel pump, like the others.

its fine in the high rpms as long as i dont just completely stomp the gas. i really think its the cat because my exhaust is really noise now

Next time you go for a drive, when you get to your destination, leave the car running and get out and check the cat. If it's red, it's bad.

I'm gonna say it's both of em. Just for the hell of it. Get a walbro 255. I'll even install mine when it arrives real soon with a detailed write up. With pictures! Whoo!

make sure the fuel pressure regualor is good first. that is on the back of the fuel rail.

Re: car stops reving when at WOT

alright so the engine will rev just fine in neutral, so its only when theres a load on the engine. today i kept repeating stomping the gas in 4th and it made a wheezing sound but wouldnt rev. sounded like alot of air trying to escape through a small hole. but if i gradually gave it gas it would be fine. when i got home, i quickly ran and looked at the cat. its hard to tell if it was red or glowing since its rusted and thats pretty much its natual color, but it was VERY hot( i didnt touch it, but i could feel heat radiating off of it) and there was a ton of pinging from the inside of it.

im thinking about just temporarily replacing it with a straight pipe. i know the outlet is 2.5' because of my exhaust, but what is the inlet(y-pipe) size? - 3'?

Re: car stops reving when at WOT

i think my cat is messing up because my exhaust valves are ****ed, when i was doing the conversion i had my y-pipe unhooked completely and i started the car a few times and revved it. thats not good :(

Should be 3"in. You may have to get it slightly smaller though to fit inside the y-pipe, i'm not too sure.
