• Turn Signal Socket blew

My left front turn signal went out the other day. I took the bulb out and then I see this big black mark on the inside and outside of the light that holds the bulb. Somehow water got inside the light and socket. Does anyone know if a new socket will fix this? I don't know much about the electrical stuff, I haven't looked at the fuse, but maybe that blew as well.

If you need to replace it you have to by the whole part from a gm dealer. It is pretty expensive too. I can't remember how much but it was definately over 30 for the whole thing.

If its just the socket you can usually get it at a local auto parts store like autozone. Thats where i got the socket for my rear side marker lamps just cut the old one of and crimp and tape the new wires to the old wires. Cost was not that much at all. Hope this helps.

Put a new bulb in and see if it works...

Likely will... if not double check the fuse and see if its blown.

If not then go to local parts store, they will have it, just splice it in, and use electrical tape and tightly wrap it.

Technically not hard but not sure how much room you have to work with on a turn signal socket.

Water doesn't do that to electrical sockets, were not running enough voltage to have that problem. The side of the bulb or the connector muct have shorted out to do that.

if water gets in there it can corrode. i usually put a little dielectric grease in the socket to keep the water out (put in enough to have a little squeeze out when you plug the bulb back in).
