I wound up with an extra set of Bosch platinum 4's. So just out of curiosity I gapped them a lot wider and WOW! let me tell you the difference it made. I'm regularly spinning my tires now. Has any one else done this?

one of my ricer buddies used those plugs in his twin turbo stealth and his car ran like balls till he changed them he couldn't even hit 10lbs of boost with them in when he was running 202001 Camaro 3.8 A4

Re: spark plugs
Ok I have a 3.8 with a home made cold air intake,a a MSD DIS spark box and plug wires. I wasn't to happy with the platnum 4's so I was cleaning my platnum 2's to put back in and out of curiosity I thought I'd open up the 2's so where the ceramic part of the electrode starts to come to a point and where the ground makes that 90 degree turn at the tip, that is where I'm measuring it. Well I put them back in and my car ran alot better. So after a couple of weeks I did it with the 4's. The 2's I gapped at .55 and the 4's at .45 I put the feeler guage along that slant on the plug and if there was no play it was cool put them in and they definately made a difference. when our digital camera is done being fixed I'll send a pic of how I did it.

Re: spark plugs
First off, why are you gapping +4's, they are preset at the factory...secondly yeah it will run like that, just like a racing plug, you moved it away from the element, but theres a reason why they do that, they are made like that to last the 500 laps or what not, not 100,000 because you burn the tips out. it just allows for better air/fuel mixture to pass between the electrode, but it will wear out fast.
