  • Royal purple fluids in exchange for normal fluids in our cars........

I am switching over to royal purple fluids for oil, tranny, and rear. I have heard that this fluid can sometimes free up some lost hp and I need every single hp possible :D
So I'm looking through my chiltons manual
Looks like 4.5 quarts for oil (yes I knew that)
Tranny (mines an auto), pan removal is 10 pints but overhaul is 16.7. I've got a new converter going in so I might just need that much tranny fluid I guess, right?
    Rear looks like 3.5 pints.
Anyone know if the royal purple rear fluid has limited slip additive in it?
    Thanks

I have Redline in my rear end. I was told the zexel torsion doesn't need lsd additive, only the older clutch type. I used rp motor oil, supposedly frees up power, but didn;t notice anything. 16+ quarts, thats a lotta $$$

Shadetree mechanic tried the royal purple on a corvette about 1.5 yrs ago ( I think ) They dynoed before and after and it showed ~+8hp after the change. So I don't think it will hurt to try.

Josh is right. The additive is for clutch-type differentials. The Torsen diff is not, therefore it does not require the additive.

Even though GM puts it in their lsd's from the factory?

Why is there two different numbers for the tranny fluid?

the additive is nothing special it just turns the regular fluid to a synthetic blend so whatever you use as long as it has some synthetic blend to it will work if that is what you need. Besides it just helps make it not so noisy right?
