Bad cap then. When pressure builds past the limit, it should dump into the overflow tank, not out the cap. Try a new cap and be sure to bleed the system of any trapped air.
yea the cap that is a number two in your picture is leaking....the stock one did it so i bought a new one and it does it as well.....i dont know what else it could be since there are no signs of a bad headgasket at all
Are you sure the sealing surface on the rim of the top of the radiator neck (#2) is not scored, cracked, damaged? I just keep thinking that if the coolant is over pressurized, it should dump into the overflow tank, not leak past the radiator cap. This one has me stumped.
ya i thought the same so i took the overflow out and cleaned it real good and cleaned its line and everything......the cap has the valve right in the center and it comes right out of that...im checked everywhere around the cap to try to see if it was something else but there isnt its had me stumped for weeks now lol and it really sucks always buying antifreeze
Can you buy one without the valve right in the center? I think the one you are buying is one of those fancy "relief valve" type caps that are supposed to let you release the pressure before turning the cap or some kind of crap like that like this one:
I think the standard caps don't have that. (someone tell me if I'm wrong about that but mine doesn't). The pressure rating is for the inner seal that is held down by the spring. When the pressure build past 16# (or whatever) it will push back the spring and let it flow into the radiator overflow bottle. There is another little valve that lets it flow back when the engine cools.
Im sure youve already done this, but you have checked how much coolant is supposed to be there v. how much you have. I think its about 3 quarts? anyway if its overfull you get wierd problems.
