  • DAMN MISFIRE!! and odd code to boot.

Okay got the dreaded misfire problem again!!! Changed coil packs out before and fixed it. Now it is doing the same thing but when the code is pulled it says random misfire and p1406 EGR pintle position circuit. We have changed the wires and 4 of the plugs we could get to, now it runs okay when cold but when it warms up it starts the misfire. Is it coil packs again? We check them with a new one on all the positions accept numer 2 coil pack cause the bolt is seized. I know this subject has been talked to death but I did the search and did the fixes and still nadda. I am still thinking coil packs but what is with the p1406 code? and the car smells like dirty feet. ANY HELP PLEASE!!

It means your EGR is sticking. Have it replaced and you'll be fine.

My car has a similar problem, I'm getting it fixed next week. Make sure to get the EGR tested and taken care of ASAP lest you foul your converter.

yea im having problem i went to get oil change.. then i leave and half my power is gone then SES code is thrown and got it scanned and said was misfire on cylinder 3 dunno what caused it but having headers, cat, catback, spark plugs and plug wires put on this coming weekend. so im praying will fix the problem.. even tho code went off and everything was fixed after i put premium gas is, because i have Jet chip and premium is required.. and i accidently put in mid-grade cuz they put premium pump in the middle.. so i dunno.
