  • replacing my battery

i think i'm due to change my battery
especially since i'm replacing the stock stereo soon with a lot of stuff (new head unit, speakers, amp/sub) plus some fog lights, and i'm not sure how well my "economy" battery (that's what it says on it) will do with the new stuff
is there any battery that is better than the rest? optima red or yellow tops perhaps?
    thanks for any info

y'd u relocate your battery to the rear? and is the optima battery for everything or just your system? i used to think they were only for stereo stuff for some reason

What system? I use the Optima in the rear because it takes more amps to carry the signal longer to crank the car. The reason I relocated to the rear was to get weight off the nose of the car and put it over the rear wheels for weight transfer/traction.

I didnt know batteries were heavy.

Yellows are supposed to be better for a system though, it says that on their site.

            So get a yellow, I don't have a system.

And batteries are like 30lbs aren't they? Anything off the nose is good.

Depends how in much stereo you are getting...LOTS and BIG, go ahead and get yellow. It is good to start your car and run your system, chances are your alternator will be the weakest link before your battery.

Added** If it is the Advance Auto Parts economy battery you are looking at, go ahead and spring another couple bucks to get the silver or titanium, better warranty and more CCA makes it well worth it. I got titanium and love it.
