  • Its got to have a name.. Its just effing gotta.

Alright. I have a 98 Pontiac firebird been sitting for the last month recieving a little care from me after 20k miles of straight use with out replacing anything but the rear axle. Which was by the way :bs:

Now while its been sitting, My brother an i have replaced, both headlight motors (and fully re-wired them), an aluminum driveshaft, tensioner pulley (and those two plastic elbows), 4 new tires, 2 front wheel hubs, and fixed that darn loc on my cd player. Also i have a new catalytic converter on order and all new cross drilled rotors an ceramic pads all around. Now i know none of that is really performance orientated; I'm just happy to get it all done

Now my only question is, my brother left me with my headlights propped up (the fuses were just left out) because my driver side headlight needed a "bump guard", as he called it. He told me it was something i could get at the dealership but i have no idea what it looks like! So when i went to the dealership the man at the counter printed up some sheets of paper but i couldn't confidently point out what i needed! So i was wondering if anyone knew the part number? or the name of the part? Does anyone have any experience with these headlight motors?

I just want to order this part so i can have my headlights go up an down again so when i put my car back on the road on the 18th of this month, i don't have to worry about fixing anything else for a few months.

    Any help is duely appriciated!!

There are two "guards" per se...

On the far edge of the headlamp (closest to the fender) is a "nub" that holds a rubber cover that acts like a rest stop...also, there are a couple of white topped screws that attach by a plastic insert you can adjust to have the headlamp rest in the desired position.

The screws can be found at autozone, advance...in the lighting isle.

Christopherrr, are these white-topped screws also on the far side? Are they on the part that moves? One of my headlights has always been a little higher than the other since the car was new. The Dealer never would fix that. I always thought it needed some kind of adjustment, but never knew how. Maybe this is the answer.

I went an checked it out today. I need a white hard rubber that fits over a little metal nub. i had two on my drivers but was missing the lower one on my passenger side. Does anyone know if you can buy these at the dealership?

Thanks in advance to any and all help!!
