  • I want to hook up a KILL switch for my car>>>need help>>>

My friend was telling me that when he had his Trans Am it had a kill switch located under the carpet so to start the car you would have to turn the ignition onto the accessory position then push this switch under the carpet and turn the car on. My other neighbor has one on his beater chevy and you must hold this button in under the dash while you turn the key or elts it wont even get power.
I think I really need something, I work in a pretty bad area, right across the streat there is a mall where 4 cars were stolen last weekend when I was at work, A toyota, a honda, a Explorer and a FIREBIRD. I looked at a few systems and didnt see anything that just did this I have the factory system so I dont need another remote with a horn and more blinking lights I just want to disable it. My other thought is that if i cant do this soon I want to get one of those clubs that lock between the brake pedel and the floor.
    Sorry it is so long.

    1. Find the wire in the harness that is +12V ONLY when the key is in the momentary start position.
    2. Clip it in two and put a lead on both ends.
    3. Put a momentary switch under the dash somewhere. The type of switch doesn't have to be momentary, but it does need to handle about 5 amps at 12 volts.
    4. Attach one lead to one terminal and the other lead to the other terminal.
    5. Make sure everything is well insulated, taped and secured.
    6. BINGO

(Might be a good idea to fuse that sucker too)

It works on every car I've ever done it to, but I've never done it to a fourthgen. I assume it will work. All starter systems are about the same.

    Have fun!

P.S. This isn't a "kill" switch. A kill switch implies that activating the switch will stop the engine from running. This is referred to as a starter kill switch.

Better yet.... take the "Neutral Safety" wire from the gear selector in the center console, and snip it in half. Wire it up to a momentary switch and all is done.

If the switch is not closed, the PCM will think the car is in gear and will not start. ;)
