Re: Help Please!!!!!
what exactly happened when you drove thru the "big puddle"....Did the car stall right then? If so, did you immediately try and start the car again? If your answer is "yes" and "yes," then you more than likely damaged the internals of the engineLast edited by Smoke Panther; 03-15-2008, 04:30 AM.

Re: Help Please!!!!!
I'd like to hear the answer to Smoke Panther's Q, but you may want to change the transmission fluid and filter too just for good measure, I just highly doubt that water is in the tranny since there is only a little vent tube where water could get in. Good idea to change oil again if it looks bad. Check to be sure the noise is from the engine and not wheel bearings, brakes, suspension joints.
Water and cars don't mix well. Even the Amphicar required service just about every time it was taken into and out of the water, and it was built for water.

Re: Help Please!!!!!
he said it stalled right when he drove though the puddle
im betting on he sucked water up and bent a rod or something
thats not good at all
depending on how bad it really was you could be looking at getting a new engine

Re: Help Please!!!!!
my buddy last week ran threw water in his 97 mustang and sucked water up his intake his motor stall and then would not start once he got it to start there was a bad clunking noise tore the motor down and he bent a rod and broke the skirt on the piston. kinda sound like what mattyacks did might wanna check it out ASAP! and i probably wouldn't be driving the car around or reving it up.

Re: Help Please!!!!!
Don't freak him out. Just one thing at a time. I would think if anything is messed up internally, his repair bill isn't going to be much higher from continuing to run it at this point.
Have you figured out where the grinding noise is coming from?
