okay, so my drivers side won't hit the window, i can't get it to get enough pressure. have changed both wipers, and tried pushing the arms down hard as possible. top part makes a little connection, but bottom part nothing. its a 96, any ideas?

What I've found is that the "J" hook for the wiper arm is, in effect backwards, causing you to have to put the hook through the wiper blade before locking it in. Because you do that, the arm contacts the frame of the blade. What I've done is mark where the frame of the blade hits the arm and remove that section. The blade should be able to pivot and will work.

to me i get it on fine with no problems, its just the arm is not applying enough pressure to get the wiper to work

so it has to do with the spring or whatever pressures the wiper arm down... look around the base of the wiper arm and see if the spring is wore out (not sure if it has a spring or not) and you might be able to find a used one from a parter or junk yard.

I'd check the spring also and if you need a new wiper arm, I would try to get a 98+ arm as they have the normal J hook

Its the spring like Josh said. had the same problem a couple times. I got replacements from AutoZone and they only lasted 6 months before having the same problem. I finally dropped the change to get the wiper arms from the dealer and haven't had a problem since.

I had the same problem and replaced blades and still didn't work. I went to dealer to order new arms and the guy said I didn't need them and described the following quote that I didn't understand then and still don't.

He went out and installed blades and no change after a few minutes he messed with them and they were working again. Now its that way again but if I push down on them as there moving before I go on my commute they work for the trip. I wanted to look at them this past weekend but was unable so I plan on looking at them next weekend.

That does work IF the problem is the wrong wiper blade. Otherwise its the spring.

Yup, I went out and replaced blade with new dealer blade and looked over arm and the spring is worn out. Looks like I'll be buying a new arm soon.

That is not bad, it is the same if you went to a parts store and got one specifically for your car.

That is weird, I know Advance carries Tricos and the number is 24-9R for the 93=97 Camaro and Firebird. In the computer that is the only wiper blade that comes up for those cars.

well it may be because it was a smaller autozone in a small town
