  • Annoying tick

It was a nice somewhat warm day in Jersey today, so I took the car out for a spin after sitting for a few days. I've been hearing this ticking that seems to get louder the longer the car is on. This time after pulling back around I heard the ticking my mechanic didn't pick up (but I told him it was there if you only drove it for a bit). Here is a video / audio I took of it:

Any ideas on what it could be? It's coming from the passenger side right behind the alternator. I noticed this tick after replacing the alternator and the tensor pulley assembly. When I turn the car off with that tick and turn it back on the tick is very soft.

Here is a few videos of what it normally sounds like with a tiny tick:

Try putting the video's on you tube or another place So I don't have to save them to my PC to veiw them.

I can't view them, but by how you worded it , if it is not loud , it might just be the injectors ticking or the altenator making the ticking sound which is normal.

Sounds like the injectors from the video. Does the motor have allot of miles on it?

It has ~118K. Just had an oil change (I think, not too sure what Pepboys did because they screwed my exhaust up). Are there any ways to tell if it is the injectors? And how easy/hard is it to replace? It drives fine, despite a little lack of power. It just sounds very loud even with the hood closed.

                Mechanics stethoscope on the injectors.
