  • vibrating type noise, and another noise

when i am driving and i press the clutch in to shift while the engine is lowering RPMs i can hear a vibrating type noise.. sounds like metal on metal, or plastic on metal, lasts for about a second as the rpm's fall

anyone know what this could be? my friend says its my throwout bearing.. but im not too sure

for the second noise, its coming from the front drivers side wheel, its like a swooshing noise that happens every revolution of the tire, speeds up with the car, and is not effected while braking... to describe the "swooshing noise" it sounds like a leaf is stuck on the inside of the rim and is hitting the caliper as it goes around

anyone know what these two could be? im having so many problems now that i am trying to sell my car :(

Problem #1 could be exhaist rubbing on something causing vibration noise. Could be throwout bearing, could be many many things.

Problem #2 sounds like a bad tire. Check the tire very well. If there is nothing stuck to the tire or the inside of the rim then maybe the tread is coming apart. Be careful.

sorry, the noise sounds like it is comming from under the hood, forgot to mention that

anything i should look for on the tire?

i assume bubbles/ cracking, etc.. anything else?

Under the hood... Belt tensioner, a/c clutch or pulley, exhaust manifold heat shield.

For the tire, yes, look for anything out of the ordinary. A bubble for sure, those are easy to spot.

hah, just got a new belt today, i was gonna put it on next time it is nice outside

lets say i check the tire and dont see anything, what should i look for next? lets just say i rotated my tires and it is still comming from the same place

took both drivers side tires off and didnt find anything wrong with them

i spun the tires around but i wasnt hearing a noise

while spinning the back tire i did hear a noise, but it was the brake pads contacting the rotor

also, the vibrating noise i was talking about only seems to happen when i press the clutch in, it does NOT happen when the engine is just in neutral, it has to be while driving and pressing the clutch in to shift

If you rev the car with the clutch pressed down, does the noise increase?

As for the wheel, sounds like a wheel bearing

no, the noise ONLY happens when i press the clutch in and the rpms lower, only does it once, i can rev the car up and let the rpms fall but it doesnt make the noise

seems only to happen in the first to second shift, sometimes does it on 2nd to 3rd, and i dont hear anything changing other gears

if i dont take my rpms high, and shift at lower rpms it doesnt make the noise at all

also, for the "wheel" noise, it isnt doing it anymore now that i took the tires off, i guess something was stuck, maybe a piece of rust, i have no idea, but its not making it anymore
