  • DIS-4 Mount Location Help

So i made sure to do a lot of searching before resorting to posting about this, but the few posts i found on this topic where either un answerd or not very informative. so here goes. I am gonna mount my Dis-4 within a couple days and i want to get a feel for where everybody else that has a Dis-4 has mounted it. i was gonna mount it on the drivers side shock tower hump. Is there any space under the steering colum area perhaps? After driving home in the rain today i thought to look under the hood to see where the water will get and it looks like that idea is shot, it was pretty damp in that location. If i sealed the holes where the wires come out of the box with a silicone caulk as well as the dip swithces would that make it water proof or is that still a bad idea? I would also run beads of silicone caulk along all the "seams" on the box as well, would this cause a heat problem? Input on this issue is highly appreciated!

Using silicone to seal a MSD box is a bad idea because it holds moisture in the box and causes it to corrode. Try searching here,

    Or call

The guys there are very happy to help answer questions on the phone.

I don't think they make a MSD box that works on LS1's. I know they make coils for the LS motors.

I started thinkin maybe there will be enough space under the dash near the steering colum, thoughts...? Will have to get out there and take a look tommarow after work.

More room on the passenger side.
